Marilynn Host

As a mixed media artist, Marilynn Host has been working with gourds as a craft medium for 12 years. During that time she has experimented with growing gourds and manipulating the shapes into three-dimensional sculptures and vessels.

One of Marilynn's favorite forms is animal imagery such as birds, fish, cats, and dogs. Since humor is an important aspect of Marilynn's work, these critters often create a smile.

Marilynn was born and raised in Wisconsin. She attended the University of Wisconsin and later received her BFA degree from Ohio State University. She now calls California her home where she has lived for 25 years. She lives there with her husband, Bill; the cat, Faust; the dog, Tuffy; and the parrot; Dusty.

Marilynn's work is represented in galleries and private collections throughout the United States.
